Common Nutritional Counselling Questions
What can a nutritional practitioner help me with?
A nutritional practitioner can help you with many aspects of your health from goal setting, weight loss/gain, prenatal nutrition, disease management, achieving a healthy lifestyle, and dietary restrictions, to name only a few. Part of working with Brandy is also counselling on some of the life issues that may surround the issue that you are coming to her with. For example, if you are seeking help with achieving a balanced diet with food allergies, she can also help you with tips on how to deal with social situations, etc. She can also coach you on working through some of the emotional situations that may contribute to the issue(s) you are seeing her for.
Is a nutritional practitioner covered by my health insurance company?
This depends on your insurance company and the type of coverage you have. Some offer it, some don’t, so you will have to check with them to see if nutritional counselling is covered. Brandy is registered with the International Organization of Nutritional Consultants and does carry liability insurance as well. If your insurance company requests that information, it can be provided to you quickly and easily.
How many sessions does it take to achieve my goal?
That depends on you and what needs to be worked on. Some clients need a little more time that others to get to where they need to go. If you only need advice on a newly diagnosed allergy, then one or two sessions may do the trick. If you require counselling, and accountability, you may require more time. This can be discussed in detail during the initial consultation with Brandy.
Does Brandy work with just adults, or children as well?
Brandy will work from newborns up (yes, newborns can benefit from nutritional counselling because everything the mother eats and drinks is translated into her breastmilk, which will affect the newborn). No one is too young, or too old, to take control of their nutrition.
