The Craniosacral system involves the cranium (head) including the cranial bones, the brain and its structures, the cerebral spinal fluid (CS fluid), the spine and the sacrum (all the way to the tailbone).  This system is the first system to develop in the embryo stage as early as 6 weeks gestation.  This system speaks directly to the autonomic nervous system where rest and repair is to take place. 

Your therapist skillfully and intuitively palpates specific areas, especially areas of the head, spine and body.  Your practitioner's role is not to forcibly correct the body but rather to encourage and hold it so it can correct itself.  Buy using just 5 grams of pressure (the weight of a nickel on your finger) on an area of stress or trauma, craniosacral therapy allows your body to soften, thereby releasing adhesions, and enabling your body to self correct.
